Yasmin hanif
Hi, I'm yasmin & welcome to my website
I'm a published writer and poet based in Glasgow, Scotland. I specialise in children's writing, particularly picture books, board books and short stories. I have a successful track record of working with a diverse range of groups, with a passion to empower children and young people to live their best lives through education, literacy and literature.

About Me
Growing up I didn't have access to alot of books but my sisters and I would come up with wild and wacky stories together.
I wasn't particulalry bookish growing up and it took me a long time to find 'the book' that made me love reading and writing. For me it was The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, and of course a brilliant English teacher at school also helped.
I went on to study Law at university but quickly realised that it was English Literature I loved. I studied, and loved English Literature at univeristy, even doing a module in Children's Literature!
I then began to teach young people literacy, language and numeracy skills at a youth charity after doing a one-year teaching degree.
I continued to write on and off during that period dipping my toes in the world of books and writing whenever I could. I did a writers retreat, a couple of adult creative writing classes at Strathclyde University and more recently found a fantastic Glasgow Children's writing group!
